THE VANGUARD WAY GOES INTERNATIONAL !

Visitors from overseas can walk the Vanguard Way with a minimum of travelling.

You can include the Vanguard Way when walking from London to Paris!

Gatwick Airport is very conveniently situated for all parts of the route and the ferry from Dieppe lands you right at its south end.  Direct train or bus services drop you right at the start of the Vanguard Way at East Croydon station from Heathrow or Luton Airports, or from the Eurostar terminal at St. Pancras International.

In 1990, three Vanguards walked from Marble Arch in London to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, taking just over two weeks.  They followed the Thames Path to Wandsworth, the Wandle Trail to East Croydon, the Vanguard Way to Newhaven for the ferry to Dieppe, then Grandes Randonnées (GRs) from Dieppe to Paris.  This could become an international highway for walkers!

And pilgrims from the UK have started their journey to Santiago de Compostela by walking along the Vanguards Way.
